PRELIMINARY STEPS' TO A REORGANISATION. London, April 5. Tlie Court in New York has appointed Mr. Franklin, Vice-President of the International Mercantile Marine, receiver for the company. This is understood to bo merely a preliininarv to reorganisation of the Mercantile Marine, which hqlds all the shares 5n the White Star Company and is largely interested in other Atlantic companies. |"A previous message mentioned that a, receiver had been appointed in connection with the_ affairs of tlio International Mercantile Marine Company, a.i organisation of J. P. Morgan's, comprising British, American, and Belgian steamship lines. The company is unable to pav interest on collateral trust bonds. Since the outbreak of the war' its earnings have diminished. British subsidiary companies are not affected.]
