ANN UAL.CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph.—l'rt'6B Association.) Timaru, April 5. The fourteenth annual conferenco and competitions of the Federated Catholic Clubs of New Zealand were commenced here on Saturday forenoon, and were brought to a conclusion yesterday. Oil the motion of Air. Jl. J.-Doyle, a resolution .was passed expressing profound regret at the demise of His Lordship .Bishop Grimes, and deep appreciation of his great pioneer work in founding the now flourishing diocese of Canterbury. It was decided "that the executive officers of the society be continued in Wellington, and that the next annual cohference be held there. It was reported that the clubs had suffered severely in membership by the large number of membeis who have gone to the front to' defend their country. The election of officers resulted: —PresidentGeneral, His Grace Archbishop Redwood; president, Mr. J. L. Leydon; vice-president, Mr. G. Dee; hon. secretary, Mij. 'I'. H. Foister; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. li. R-eade; executive, Messrs. M. O'Kane, F. Galvin, J. Fagan (all of Wellington). The results of the competitions were: Timaru, L; Christchurcli, 2; 'Wellington, 3.
