HOW COMMITTEE CALLS "WERE ANSWERED. A return prepared in the Town Clerk's Office shows how the calls to committee meetings were answered by the Mayor and councillors during tho period from April, 1, 1914, to March 31, 1915. The figures show that Councillor Barber was called to 23 more meetings, than any other councillor. Ho actually attended more meetings (100) than any councillor other than. Councillor Frost, whose attendances totalled 107. The highest percentage of attendances was, however, gained by Councillor Wright, who only missed four meetings out of a total of 70 to which he was called. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) was another who missed but four meetings out of the total number (61) to which ho was called. Tho return is as follows:— j
It should be mentioned that Councillor Atkinson was granted leave_ of absence for somo months to visit Edr? land. Councillor Fuller was twice abroad on leave of absence—once on a visit to Amcrica and onco on a visit to Australia. Councillor ITislop joined tlio Now Zealand 10xi>cditionary Force and has left for the front.
