PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Championship Tournament, which was to have commenced on the Day's iiay courts yesterday, was postponed until to-day. Competitors are expected to leave town by the 8.45 boat this morning, so that an'early star]t may be made. OTAGO TOURNAMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.' Dunedln, April 2. The annual Easter tournament promoted by the Otago Lawn Tennis Association commenced to-day in rather wintry conditions. A shower of rain fell in the morning and delayed play for about two hours, and from then onwards the weather was fine, but windy. The entries were good, but wore slightly behind those of last year. The championship results are: — Men's Championship Singles.—First round: J. S. Sinclair beat W. It. Sinclair, 6—4, 7—5; M'Millan beat Marcussen, 6—4, 6—l; Mitchell beat M'Donald, 6—l, I—6, 6—4. Second round: ■ Bray boat M'Lachlan, 6 —2, G—2; Feriens beat Herbert, 6 —l, 6—l; Kollett beat A. Nicholson, 6—3, 6—4; Oxford beat Botting, 6 —3, 6—B, 6 —o ; Sheppard beat' "Wood, 6—2, B—6. _ Men's, Championship Doubles.—First round: Ollivier and Shoppard beat Scott and \V. 11. Sinclair, 6—o, 6—l.
