GOLF
MEDAL MATCHES AT MIEAMAB. The. boisterous weather yesterday morning was very unfavourable and uncomfortable ' for golf, and as a consequence. the entries for the medal handicaps at Miramar were not so numerous as they might otherwise have been. Thirty-six players entered for the morning handicap and 42 for the afternoon round. The course was in hotter condition than it has previously been this season. ,
Both matches were won by TV. T. Doughty, who was very generously handicapped at 7. His play through the greens was • excellent always, and but for his loss of strokes rather frequently on the greens, his sorces would have been quite good enough for a scratch player. In the first round his card showed 83, which with his handicap of 7, left him a net score of 76. This was equalled by N. M. Chcsney, SS— 13—76. Doughty won in the play-off, with the' score of 80—7—73, with which very sound score he also won the afternoon handicap. Th© ibest of the other scores in. the morning were: —M. Burnett, 96 —16—80; R. L.-D. Kidston, 81—0—81; and R. D. Kelly, 92—12— 80; and in the afternoon: W. Barr, 91 —14 —77; S. Hornibrook, 98—20— 78; F. P. Wilson, .91—12—79; W. A. Gill, 87—7 —80; and L. Hitchings 93 -13-80.
This morning there will be a bogy handicap, and in the afternoon a men's four-ball handicap. On Monday morning there will be a men's foursomes handicap and in the afternoon mixed foursomes.
