THE VOICE OF THE OVERSEA DOMINIONS
MUST BE HEARD DURING THE WAR (Reo. April 2, 3.35 p.m.) ; London, April 1. The "Saturday Review" says that the country after tho war should insist upon a. better-informed foreign policy, and also closer relations with iho oversea Dominions. The latter had crown up, and would 110 longor be fobbed off with Departmental red-tape or an understrapper of State. It was unbelievable that they would 6ubsido quietly and not ask inconvenient questions regarding the rearrangement of affairs. "The war Mill onormously quicken • tho Empire's evolution," says tho "Saturday Iteview," which adds: "We cannot see what good end can be served by postponing Australia's strong movement for an informal consultation with the Motherland during the war, concerni ing matters that are bound to come forward when the settlement arrives. To secure an intimato communion with the people of Australasia requires a much more "human touch than the chill curt agency of cablegrams and the rigid formalist at Whitehall."
