ON THE KAISER
Paris, March 81. - The "Figaro? vouches for the story that the Kaiser was dining in an hotel in Luxemburg in August last when a certain general arrived,- and the Kaiser, . in frantic iage, upbraided him for sacrificing thousands of his best soldiers in capturing which was defended only by a few battalions. The general went livid, and exclaimed, " 'Soldiers in close formation!' wa3 the reiterated order of your 6camp of a-ison, who was at' a safe distance.'' The general bowed and withdrew, and-blew out his brains on the pavement. A week later a postcard bearing the Crown Prince's' portrait, was selling throughout Germany. It was inscribed—The Victor of Longwy." ,
