FINE MEN ENLISTING
PRAISE FOR AVELLINGTON SOLDIERS. Sinco the new scheme of enrolling recruits was put into operation in New Zealand on February 15, 373 men havo notified the City Recruiting Officer of their willingness to enlist for active service. Of these 227 have been passed by th© military doctors as physically fit. Of the 136 who have not been marked "fit," more than half did not approach any of the doctors. There is a good proportion of men who, after sending in their names, are not heard from again. Most of the Arlington men rejected failed to pa6s on account of bad teeth. The military say that the AA r ellington volunteers for the Sixth Reinforcements are a particularly fine set of men — physically and otherwise—and that no better body has yet offered its services to the New Zealand organisation.
