YACHTING
TE RURU YACHT CLUB. A race was hold on Saturday for the trophy presented by Mr. J. J. Firth, patron of the club. The race was sailed in a light breeze. Eight boats faced the starter. The Rawene took the lead, and was never caught. B.v winning this race she holds the championship of the club, which she held last year. Following were the results:—Rawene (2£min. handicap), finishing time, 5.50 p.m., ]; Seabird (2}min.), 6.3 p.m., 2; White Wings (2jmin.), 6.7 p.m., 3. Also started: Nancy Stair (<tmin.), 6.8 p.m.; Mnritai (scr.), 6.9 p.m.; Trixie (6min.), 6.10 p.m.; Amai (Bmin.), 6.10 p.m.
Essex (20min.) did not finish, and Trixie was late in starting.
A. race for tho New Zealand. Yachtsman .trophy for fourteen-footers will be held next Saturday.
