THE INTER-CLUB CONTESTS. FINAL FOR THE SHIELD. In til© Wellington Lawn Tennis Association's inter-club contests on Saturday the Brougham Hill moil's senior team defeated Victoria College by six rubbers to nil, and thus won the shield for the season. The winners registered a fine performance through the tournament, winning all matches in the first round, meeting with two defeats (one at the liands of Victoria College) in the second round, and winning all matches in the third round. The results of Saturday's games are as follow, the names of the Brougham Hill players being given first in every instance :— Singles.—Reeves defeated Henderson, 6—5, 4—6, 6—4; Bntoher defeated Cleghorn, 6 —o, 6 —2; H. V. Howe defeated Atmore, 6 —l, 6 —4; Warsaw defeated Fathers, 6 —5, 6 —5. Doubles. —Reeves and Butcher defeated Henderson and Atmorg, 4—6, 6 —4, 6—2; Howe and Warsaw defeated Cleghorn and Fathers, o—6, 6—4, 6—3. ' Brougham Hill, six rubbers, 12 sets, 80 games; Victoria College, 3 sets, 62 games. BROUGHAM HILL CHAMPIONSHIPS KEEN MATCH IN LADIES' .DOUBLES. Progress results in connection with the Brougham Hill Lawn Tennis Club's championships are as follow : — Men's Championship Singles.—Edwards defeated Morison, 6 —4, f) —7; Butcher defeated J. A. B. Howe, 6 —3, G—l. Men's Championship Doubles. —Butcher and Reeves defeated H. V. and J. A. B. Howe, 6—4, 7 —9, 7 —5.

Ladies' Championship Doubles—Miss Morgan aiid Mrs. W. E. Howe defeated Miss Hunt and Miss Howe, 6—3, 4—6, 10-8.

The latter • match took three hours to decide, being strenuously contested throughout. All remaining matches in the club championships must be played on April 10. Competitors absent on that date will be scratched.
