HERETAUNGA BOATING CLUB

Tho Heretaunga. Boating Club decided two very interesting races on Saturday afternoon. The entries were few, but a very keen contest was witnessed, and some good seamanship displayed. In the 18-foot class the following boats competed:—Mr. Taylor's Nomad (scr.), Mr. Aldred's Irex (scr.), and Mr. Hartley's Spray (4Jmin.). The Irex led to tho Island boy, but was overhauled by. the Spray before reaching Koro Koro buoy. A close tight ensued home. The times are as follow Spray (4imin. start), 3.5 p.m., finished 4hr. 2min. 4sec., 1; Irex (scr.), 3.5 p.m., finished 4hr. 2min. 535ec.,: 2. Noinad did not complete the course.' In tho 14-I'oot half-deckers, only two boats competed, Messrs. Bittle and Macdonald's Nino (scr.) and A. Colquhoun's Gil Bias (4min.). Tho Miro rounded the Island Bay buoy 12 seconds ahead, and on tho windward work reached Koro Koro 2min. 33sec. ahead of her opponent, and crossed the finishing line 3min. 35sec. ahead, thus losing the coveted position by 25sec. on handicap time. The times were as follow: —Miro (scr.), 3.10 p.m., finished 4hr. sniin. 22sec.; Gil Bias (4min.), 3.1Q- p.m., finished 4hr Bmin, 57sec., her corrected time. A large number of spectators witnessed the events. . ■ . '
