» WEEK-END SHOOTING C.A.C. CUP COMPETITION The Karori Club's visit to Trentham on Saturday afternoon in quest of the (J.A.C. Cup anj other trophies was a pleasant outing, and a good afternoon's sport. The usual Trentham conditions prevailed, a patchy "left-right" wind flickering across the range. Scoring was rather better on the whole than in the same stage of this competition last year. Rifleman P. W. Cliing was top scorer for the day with 9a, which is a magnificent "shoot" over long ranges, 500, 900, and 1000 yards. AsChi ng is not eligible for this competition, first place goes to Rifleman H. V. Croxton, with a total of 89, who win's the trophy presented hy Mr. J. Keir. The prize to the highest handicap man goea to Rifleman A. Jensen, who takes a club trophy. The "shoot-off" between Riflemen H. Bulford and W. Chiriiside, who tied for second place in the club championship, was won by the former. Riflemen J. Cox, ,T. Burns', and G. Tinney also shot off for seventh and eighth places in the second series, the last-named dropping out. '"his competition will be finished on Saturday, April 17. The club's touring team for the Easter trip leave on Thursday for Picton. During the holidays they will fire against the Sounds, Tuamarina, and Blenheim Clubs. The club will also be represented at the Hastings and Christchureh .Meetings. On Saturday, April 10, the annual match against the Suburbs Club will be fired at Trentham, two teams, ten men a side. Very even shooting amongst the members was the feature of last Saturday's practice, tlie bright light on the figure targets proving very hard for sighting. Rifleman Chapman was heartily congratulated on his winning the championship, Rifleman Cottrill, last year's champion, being second. A tie for second place in this series between J. Cottrill and S. R. Shannon proved interesting, for, after three shots each, it was again a tie, and then it was shot for shot, Deputy-Presi-dent Shannon eventually winning.
