PACIFIC ISLAND PEOPLES
DR. G. BROWN'S ADDRESS. Dr. G. Brown, the veteran missionary and. president, of the Methodist Church of Australasia, preached to a large congregation in the Wesley Church, Taranaki Street, last evening. Dr. Brown left New Zealand in 1860 to undertake mission work in-the South Seas and'has been the founder of Methodist missions in New ,• Britain, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. During his most interesting sermon, Dr. Brown traced the marvellous changes which the Gospel had wrought among the peoples of the Pacific Isles; High praise was given to the Fijians who, having been converted to Christianity themselves, had, carried t'he Gospel to Samoa, New Guinea, and Tonga-. Many incidents from Dr. Brown's personal experiences were given illustrative of the obange among these peoples. Dr. Brown will address a meeting for women in the Wesley Hall at 2.30 this afternoon. He will also speak at a meeting to-morrow at 7.45 p.m. in Wesley Church.
