THE EDUCATION ACT

BOUNDARIES COMMISSION. The Commission provided for in the Act to determine the boundaries of the new enlarged education districts has been set up. Following is the personnel :— Mr. A. D. Thompson, Assistant Public Service Commissioner (chairman). Mr. George Hogben, C.M.G., retiring Director of Education. Mr. Donald Petne, formerly Chief Inspector of Schools, Auckland. Mr. John Strauchoii, 1.5.0., ex-Un-der-Secretary of Lands. Mr. G. M. Thomson, ex-M.P. for Dunedin North. The Commission will not commence its sittings until the beginning of April. Its report lias to be laid before Parliament on June 30, 1915, "or as soon thereafter as may be convenient," and, with such amendments as may be made by resolution .of the House, come into operation on January 1, 1916.
