■ ■ »— ' Despite the wet . weather' last night a delightful concert) was thoroughly enjoyed -by the enthusiastic audience, at the Sailors' Friend Society. The items by the Brooklyn Glee Club were rendered with much feeling. Mr. Moore, Missioner, was in the chair. He spoke on the Temperance question, and a number of men signed the pledge. The votes of thanks were to the following:—Mrs. Swinburne, the Misses Fontaune, Ta6ker, and Willis, and Messrs. G. Barker, Chartres, Mara, J. Hoolo, G. Barker, Hoole. senr., Boyd, Bates, Thompson, Walker, Munday, and Knight (R.M.S. Ruahine). Books were given to out-ward-bound crews, and as the stock is almost depleted, Mr: Moore would bo grateful for gifts of books for the men.
