WELLINGTON COLLEGE OLD BOYS

ANNUAL MEETINGS. The annual meeting of the Wellington College Old Boys' Association was lield ia6t night. Mr. W. Bethune presided, and there was an attendance of about iio. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet (already published) the chairman, referring to the call made by the Empire, said that tho school here did not have the traditions of the schools of the Old Land. Their traditions dated only back to the Boer War, as far as service for tho Empire went. When the present call came 105 old boys volunteered at once, and since then it was hard to say how many had gone. An attempt was being made to prepare a complete roll call of tho names.

Mr. W. H. Denton referred to the fact that the progress mado by the association was not all that it should be. Subscriptions were falling off, and ho thought the cause was that they had struck a-"dead level," and'had nothing to work for. He thought the time had come when they should make note'that they had received no recognition from the college authorities, or the Board of Governors. As the association had done so .much for the college, he felt that sonic recognition should be made. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. i An alteration was made to tho rules of the; association by deleting Rule 0, dealing with tho election of officers, and substituting another rule, enabling the. meeting to elect, in addition to the office-bearers of the past, two extra members, one an assistant secretary and the other a'boy just leaving college, to join the executive, and so enable the executive to keep in touch with the college:

Officers were elected as under:— President, Mr. M. 0. Bamett (rcolected); hon. auditor, Mr. W. H. Morrah (re-electcd); lion, secretary, Mr. W. W. Cook (re-elected); assistant hon. secretary, Mr. C. Makehain: lion, treasurer, Mr. N. lsherwoyd (re-elected); committee, Dr. ti. A. H. Gilmer, Messrs. W. E. Betliune, W. H. Denton, K. Bcere, J. L. Palethorpe, E. - Levy, and H. Desborough. A donation of £2 2s. was made to the college to provide a prize for rifle shooting, and £5 ss. was- donated to the Oromid Fund, and £2 2s. for an Old Boys' prize. . A special vote of thanks to the president. (Mr. M. C. Barnett) and to the hon. secretary (Mr. W. W. Cook) was carried.

On the motion of Mr. Denton, it was decided that it should be a recommendation to the executive to get into closer touch with the college and the Board of Governors, and. that the representation on the board should be again urged,
