INVESTMENT SHAKEB. In the investment market on Saturday dales were reported of Westport-Stookton dt ss. Id. and Leyland-O'Brien at 21s. 9d. The quotations were as under:—

An ordinary catalogue was submitted, and eleven buyers were preeent, including representatives from Auckland, Napier, .and Hastings fir ma. Competition was keen, and prices were Id. to lsd, liighcr than at the previous tale, and stated to be 2d. higher t.hon last Napier sale. The top prices realised were:—Fleece, -13a.; lambs, 13d.; crutchings, 93d.; locks, 73d.; dead, 10Id.; pieces, 9d.: slipe, 12Jd.; skins, 10Jd.; hides, 9Jd. LONDON WOOL SALES. By Telegraph—Preps Association—Copyright (Reo. March 7, 5.5 p.m.) London, March 6. The -wool sales have cloEed. The Quantities eold were;—To the Home market, 60 500 bales; to the Continent. 5000 bales; to the United States. 16,000 bales; and 11,500 bales have been hold over. Good greasy combing merinos finished at 15 per cent., faulties 10 per. cent-., ccoureds 15 to 20 por cent., croeebreds generally 10 per cent., elipes par to 5 per cent., and lambs 5 to 10 per cent, above February rates. Crossbred lambs were at fancy prices.
The . New Zealand' Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from London, under date March s:—"The wool ealea have.olosed. The market is strong. As compared with position at February 6, greasy crossbred, medium, and coarse, aTe 10 per cent, higher." Messrs. Murrey, Roberta, and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London friends, Messrs. Sanderson. Murray, and Co., under date March 6:—"Wool sales closed very firm. Fifteen thousand hales held over, inoluding 12,000 bales 'Port Curtis' and 'Marathon' not available. Compared. with last sales' closing iatM, market-' generally 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, higher.-" Messrs. Levin and Co.; Ltd.. hare received a cablegram from their London agents saying that - the wool sales have closed with prices from .5 to 71 per cent, dearer than'at-the beginning of. the series.

FROZEN MEAT. (Roc. March 7, 5.5 p.m.) . London, March 6. The. Incorporated Society of Meat Importers' Smithfield market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not lts6 than one hundred carcasses of mutton or lamb, or twenty-five quarters of beef, of fair average quality. The quotations are not. for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the buk of the'shipments now on the market.. RABBITSKIN SALE. . (Rec. March 7, 5.5 p.m.) London, March 6. At the rabbtt'sMne saJes 1290 bundles were offered and 847 were sold. There was little change, except better qualities, which declined a halfpenny.
WHEAT MARKET WEAKER. (Rec. March 7, 5.5 p.m.) London, March 6. The wheat market-, is weak, owing to heavy Argentine, shipments, and the further weakness in America. Chicago May options are quoted at 1353 cents to 140 cents; July options, 110 3-8 cents to 1133-8 cents.
BRITISH TRADE. (Rec. March 7, 5.5 p.m.) London, March 6. " The British ,Board of Trade returns show that the ■ imports for February increased by £321,563, exports decreased by £15.084,860, and re-exports decreased by £3,419,271, as compared with February of last year.
