MEETING OF N.Z. BRANCH. (Br Telegraph—Press Association Tliraru, March 4. A largely attended meeting of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Press Union wa6 held to-day. The bal-Mice-shect showed a balance of £65 12s.' Bd. to credit, and with the annual report was passed. It was decided to forward a recommendation to the Council of the Union in London to devote £50 out of New Zealand's contribution to the funds to the aid of distressed newspaper proprietors 'and journalists in France and Belgium.' Seven now associates were elected. The chairman (Mr. G. Fenwick) and tlie present executive were re-eleoted.
