WAIRARAPA MEETING
RAIN interferes with the SHOOTING / (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Greytown, March 4. •The third day of the Wairarapa rifle meeting opened very wet, and the rain interfered with the competitors. During the afternoon the rain ceased, but the light was bad. Just after lunch the executive met and decided to go on with the meeting. Challenges in the Otago and Hawke's Bay matches were numerous, and every target on the range was' requisitioned. The shooting in the Otago Match was disastrous to many _of the marksmen, Eric Ballinger, making only 25 at two ranges, his score reading— 800 yds., 5-0-0-0-3-5-5—18; 900 yds., O-fl-fl-fl-O----4-3—7. Lewin's target at 900 yds. read— 0-0-0-0-0-04—4; and S. Broadbent's 0-0-0-0-0-0-o—o. H. Marshall put on a possible at 800 yds. Wal Feast missed his first shot at 900 yds., and after that put on 4-5-5-5-5-5-5—31, and at the 800 yds. he made 31. Ching's target read—Booyds., 5-5-5-5-4-4-5—33, .and 900yd5.,. 5-5-54-5-5-5— 34. Palmer put on a possible at 800 yds., and 25 at 900 yds.
