NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORS' ASSOCIATION
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Tlmaru, March 3. At the annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association, Mr. P. Selig, president, in tho course of his address referred to the influence of the war upon the newspaper business. It was gratifying that_ the New Zealand newspaper and printing, world bad contributed its sharo of men for the fighting line, and employer and employeehad responded nobly to calls for patriotic funds, and columns of. space had been devoted to the support of all movements calculated to support King and country, and this, he was sure, would be continned. Reference was also made to tho posting of the High Commissioner s telegrams, tho censoring of news, and tho regulations regarding the non-publica-tion of news relating to tho forces, also railway passes, tho inadequate cablcs across . Cook Strait, and othor matters of particular interest to the newspaper world. The Hons. H. D. Bell and R. H. .Rhodes had been invited to be present at tho conference, but had to express rcwrefc at their inability to <lo so.
