(By TeleEmah.—Press -Association.) : * MONOXIDE POISONING. ' Creymouth, March 3. 'At the adjourned inquest on James Walker, who was found drowned in the Hochstetter tunnel workings, the theory of Mr. Bishop, Inspector of Mines, was that deceased was overoomei by fumes from an oil-engine's . exhaust pipes, whioh latter had an outlet in a separateiuoline drive. The pipes showed a leakage at nearly all the joints, and the air current had been reversed. ' There were no special regulations dealing with oil-engines underground, neither' was it necessary to notify the Department that such were in U6s. • The Inspector, in rer ply to a Question, said he .was of opinion that' regulations concerning noxioug fumes from steam engines also applied to oil-engines. . . 1 A doctor's testimony supported the theory that deceased died of monoxide poisoning, having a lower resistance than normal through extensive adherence of the right lung to the chest wall.
, A. verdict ■was Tetumed fhat death, was due to monoxide poisoning. ' FOUND DEAD. Nelson, March 3. Daniel George Gilbertson, aged sixty, was found dead at Sandy Bay. .
