The letter was referred to the Tramway Committee. . , A letter-was received from Mr. !A. B. Mabin ■ drawing attention to the condition. of the road from Seatoun tunnel along the foreshore to Karaka Bay. He suggested that tbo road should receive some attention from the council. The matter was referred to the-Borough Engineer. Permission was granted to the Bay' Road Sunday School Committee to hold a picnic at Seatoun Park to-morrow. The Mayor reported that as directed by , the council lie had waited on the Tramway Traffic Superintendent (Mr. D. M'Gillivray) in connection with the proposed alterations-to-the tramway timetable. The conference had been very satisfactory, inasmuch as the tramway authorities had agreed 'to practically everything that tho council suggested. It had been arranged tliat the morning cars from Seatoun should be 6.56, 7.20, 7.56, 8.20, 8.26, 8.56, and 9.26 a.m. The proposed afternoon week-day service was agreed to, and the 10.36 p.m. car from Lambton Station to Seatoun was cut 'out of the runn ing. As the Wairarapa train now arrives at 7.8 p.m., it ■was decided that the Seatoun cars should leave Lambton Station and not run via Enakori Road as formerly. In regard to the Seatoun Saturday afternoon service, this had been fixed as a 20-minutes' service, but it would be clearly indicated on the time-table's that on wet days a 40-minutes' service only would be provided. It was decided that the present Sunday afternoon service to Seatoun was sufficient and any extra cars to run after 3 p.m. had been dispensed, with. The Miramar Sunday service was not to be altered, but on week days an extra car would be put on to leave 'Miramar between 8.46 a.m. and 9.58 a.m. Hie car leaving the city for Miramar at 5.1 p.m. and the ono for, Seatoun at .5.6 p.m.' would be through' fare cars to' tho city boundary, and the 4.49 p.m. ajid 5.19 p.m. Seatoun cars would he through fares to the Kilbirnie Post Office. More through-fare cars wore being asked for. Tho Mayor's report was adopted, councillors expressing the opinion that the position arrived at was very satisfactory indeed. In connection with the proposal to establish a cemetery in'tho borough, the engineer reported that the only, suitable ground appeared to be in the hills overlooking Lyall Bay and Cook Strait. A section of six or soven acres could be obtained there., and would last the district it would serve for a period of 50 years. The total cost he estimated at £2601 (including cost of sexton's house), but the initial outlay would not be anything like-this amount. In the ordinary course the whole of tho outlay would bo repaid to (ho council in 20 years, and at tho eud of 50 years when tho cemetery would bo full there would be a profit of £6000. This latter sum could only be applied to the purchase of further ground for a cemetery. The report was referred to the Public Works Committer the council.
