BOWLS

WELLINGTON V. COMBINED CLUBS A RECORD WIN. On Saturday afternoon the sixteen rinks on the Wellington Club's greens were engaged with the annual match between the parent Wellington Club and a representative rink from every other club in Wellington and suburbs (the latter including clubs from as far away as Ofcaki and tho Upper Hutt. For ten years Wellington had won this match, and on Saturday it won again, by the biggest margin on record —133 points—which constitutes probably one of the most remarkable series of wins known to the bowling world. When it is considered that the Wellington Club has to produce sixteen teams, and each of the opposing clubs only ono each, tho fact that the old club has been able to win for eleven years in succession is really a great achievement. The weather was bright and breezy, and the greens as keen as . mustard..._ "The bowls roll after they stop," said one player, and by tho look of some of the heads it seemed a very difficult matter indeed to contend' with tho glassy green and tho wind.
