FIRE AT HASTINGS
« CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. (Bx Tweeiwa— Press Association) Hastings, February 12. Business, premises owned-by Kilford and W. H. Ebbett, and occupied by Tustin (painter and picture-frame dealer) and F. Moore (second-hand furniture dealer) were damaged beyond repair and the stocks ruined by fire last night. 'An. adjoining shop, belonging' to the same owners and occupied by You Lee, silk mercer and fruiterer, was; slightly scorched and the 6tock damaged by water. ■ '
The fire had a good hold when discovered, but, notwithstanding the inflammable nature, of the stocks, the brigade, assisted by the high pressure supply, quickly had control. Tlie insurance on the buildings are £1000, in the Queensland office; on the stocks: Tustin, £600 in the Guardian office,-and Moore £500 in the Guardian. The Chinaman's insurances aro not available.
Mr. Moore estimates his loss at £300 above the insurances
