MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL

TRAMWAY MATTERS. At last night's meeting of the Miramar Borough Council,' the Mayor (Mr. F Townsend) presided, and there were also present: Councillors S. M. Stone, H. Hawthorne, H. A. Smith, M. Tracy,/ and Dr. Edith Huntley.' The; Mayor reported that'it was the intention to shift the place of business to the' power house office on Monday next.. He thought the move would prove a very .satisfactory one in all respects. ' Copy of the letter received by the City Council from the Minister of Railways in reference to the Hutt Road was received. The contents of the letter have already been published. ■' , Mr. W. H. Morton, general manager, of the Wellington City CorporationTramways, wrote stating that it was proposed to issue a revise 3 time-table in April. He forwarded a copy'of'-the proposed- arrangements-. to meet the requirements of, increased traffio on the Seatoun t line and - asked' for- the council's views thereon. Inter alia, Mr. Morton's letter, said:-"It will be noted that a 15-minutes service is proposed to be run from Lambton.Station between 4.21 and 6.21 p.m. On, Mondays to Fridays and on Saturdays provision is made for a 20-minutes service from 12.1 p.m. until the last car.' A-'late car is inserted to leave- the station at 11 p.m. on week nights with the exception of Satwv days when it will leave at 11.1 p.m. in lieu of the'present 111.7 p.m. oar.. On Sunday a 20-minutes service is provided throughout the afternoon and evening. . . .. It is not proposed to alter the Miramar service on week days, but in' view of the increased service to Seatoun on Sundays, provision has been made for an 80-minutes service only to Miramar throughout Sunday afternoon and evening.". ■ The letter was onsidered by the oounoil in committee at,the close of the ordinary business. i

In regard to Seatoun Park, the Mayor stated - that foe/; ras making inquiryinto the allegations that a picnic committee Had charged for admission to Seatoun Park-on Boxing Day:and that the question would be raised again when the affair had been sifted. In the meantime he desired to make it clear that there was no. authority for any committee to charge for admission to the park and to, refuse admission to residents.
