At a meeting of the Boot Repairers' Association it was stated that since the outbreak of the war the price'of leather had increased 25 per cent., and that tanners in the Dominion would not reduce the prices because they could get-in' London what they demanded from New Zealand bootmakers. ' It was agreed that:,members would be compelled to raise their prices- for tie manufactured article.
