TROTTING CLUB'S OFFEH. A mooting of the Hutt Park Committea was held last evening, thora being wesent Mr. H. Baldwin (chairman), and Meoßid. M'Ewan, Towtiseiidj Brockl©bank, Hodgins, and Hobbs. The Hutt Valley Trotting Club wrote, offering £100 per annum for the right to use the Pars for the purpose of hiding trotting meetings on two days per year, and £25 per day for any additional dajs. The communication added that it would be absolutely necessary Sr.r the club to lay down a track, permanently fenced (plans of which were submitted)', tho club to be allowed to use tho track for training purposes, and to collect all fees derived therefrom; the tern of the le.ase to be not less than fifteen years, other conditions to be those which-were ill ready known to tho oommitto, and only needed embodying in the form of lease. In discussing the matter, Mr. Tnwnsend thought, as this was the best offer yot submitted by the Trotting Club, it was worthy of consideration, and expressed the opinion that the committee should meet the ..club on the grounds. Mr Brocklcbank pointed out that this had -already been done, and that the position of the training tracks had practically been settled. The chairman was of opinion that 1 a small committee, representing both sides, could meet. on the grounds, aud brinfc a- report back to the committee for consideration.

Mr. M'Ewan mentioned that at the first glance the Trotting .Club's offer appeared to be a good one, but they must bear in mind that. if certain improvements were carried out, the offer wonld not be so good. He would oppose leasing the ground to this one form of sport, if it meant shutting out hockey, football, ete.

Finally, Mr. Hobbs moved that further consideration of the Trotting O'ub'p offer bo held over for one month,- and that in the meantime arrangements be made for the committee to meet the club on the grounds, and discuss the matter This was carried.

The Education Board intimated that its representatives would visit the'Parkon. February 24 in regard to the question of a site for the proposed 'High School, and it was agreed to meet them ou that date.
