GORDON & GOTCH'S PICNIC

The eighth annual picnic of the Gordon and Gotch Proprietary was held on Saturday at Day's Bay, fine weather prevailing throughout the day. In the morning a short sports programme was gone through, and in. the afternoon a fifty yards' swimming race was held, also several tennis matches. The results'of tho races are as under:— Gordon and Gotch's Handicap (100yds.)—1st prize, silver cup presented by Mr. W. E. Jackson), A. Youl; 2nd prize (Mr. Herb. Priced trophy),- A. Ballard; 3rd prize (Mr. A. Russell's trophy), C. Broughton. Ladies' Race (50yds.).—1st prize (Mr. C. Pratt's trophy), Miss Porter; 2nd prize (Messrs. Collins Bros., trophy), Miss Dalton. Youths'. Race (50yds.).—1st. prize (Messrs. Smith and Smith's trophy), A. Cloak. ' Married Men's Race (75yds.).—1st prize ■ Messrs. , M'Lean and Gray's' trophy, A. Ballard; 2nd prize , ("Free Lance" trophy), N. Stevens. ' . Thread-the-Needle Race.—lst prize (men's) (Mr. N. Aitken's trophy). A: Bennett; Ist prize (women) (Mr. Mack's trophy), Miss Johnston; 2nd prize (men),. Mr. Elliott's trophy), K.
