TEACHERS' APPOINTMENTS.
Sir—Much has been said and done during_ tho year 1914 to do away with education boards, and the enclosed work that is considered excellent is a proof of the urgent neoessity for teachers to be appointed by the Education Department,' and the boards abolished. You can see that the, children's /time is -wasted under such teachers as the board wishes to' appoint, and I can assure you that this teacher is muoh better than others that the Taranaki Education Board has appointed. I know of girls who spent years at - the high' whools trying to gat into the education service a,s P.T.'s or as assistant teachers and havo had no chance while such unqualified teachers as this has the influence' with the board to get £120 a year as assistants; there is much wrong in our education system, and- our ohildren are suffering, It is due time that the Government make some change in the interests of . education so that our country children are not ruined to_ benefit appointees who have no qualification ana who are "not able as you can see to do the work required by Standard H.—l am. etc!, A PARENT.
