DOCK DUES COMPARED. In view of tho controversy over the (luor lion of erecting a second Slip at Wellington, tlic following w of interest:— At a. meeting of the Lyttelton Harbour Board on Wednesday, the secretary pre sented a statement giving a comparison of the dock dues payable at Auckland, Port Chalmers, and Lyttelton. The statement was based on the assumption that the vessel occupied the dock for two dayn. The figures showed that the local charges for vessels up to 1000 tons were lighter than wore those ruling at cither Port Chalmers or Auckland, and that whereas the local charges for vessels above 12C0 tons and up to 70W tons remained tho same,'the charges at Auckland and Otago were on a Eliding scalo for vessels of like tonnage. Therefore it was suggested that the Lyttelton' charges Ehould be altered, and should be from £55 for a vessel of from 2001 tons to 5000, up to £75 for a vessel of from 6001 to 7000 tone. /
