DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

This afternoon the Wellington Diamond Jubilee celebrations are to' be held at Newtown Park. Great interest is being evinced in the costume cricket match between the leading members of the J. C. Williamson Company, in.their various roles from the "Gondoliers," "Yeomen of the Guard," "lolanthe," "Pinafore," and "The Pirates of Penzance," and a team representing tlio Maoris -and pakehas. Both teams, accompanied by the West Coast display, are to parade through the streets before the match, starting from the Post Office at 2 p.m. At the park, in addition 'to the cricket match there will be the great gold rush by the West Coasters, athletic sports, dancing competitions, baby shows, and a largo number of amusing side-shows.
