SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

There was a large attendance at the Sailors' friend Society Institute last evening, when Mr. Bates provided an enjoyable concert. Mr. .Tames Moore, missioner. occupied the chair. Vocal and elocutionary items were contributed by the following:—Misses Robinson, Foy, Messrs. Rennie, Reed, Boyd, Bates, Hew-, litt, and Robinson. Mr. Bates played the accompaniments. A singing competition was held, Messrs. Treon, J.ee, and Bates (R.M.S. Corinthic) taking pnrt, the first-mentioned bein« declared tlio win. ner. Sailors from ships in port won the short story competition. The performers were accorded a lieartvy vote of thanks at the conclusion of the concert.
