The following applications to transfer were also received-and it was resolved to approve on the usual conditions pro video papers are in order and that statements of land held are satisfactory:—C. L. Wildbore to W. A. Wildbore, Section 20, Block XIV, Oroua, 5 acres; F. S. A. Lane to P. M'Kay, Section 22, Block XII, Apiti, 200 acres. 31t. Oliver Bubb applied to sublet Section 8, Block VIII, Huaugania, 345 acres (less one acre) to his son, Mr. W. H. Bubb, Cor a term of 5 years from January. 1915, and it was resolved to approve. Mr. 11. A. Hart applied to Bublet Section 3, Block VII, Umtitoi, 200 acres, to Mr. Geo. H, Hart for a term of 3 years from December 1, 1914, and it was resolved to approve. Tho following applications to transrer were received, and it was resolved to approve subject to tho transfer of transferee's present holding:—Representatives' of C. S. Stack to A. P. and F. H. Landers, Section i, Biock 11, iUangahao, 195 acres 2 roods; Section 2, Block 11, Mangahao, 197 acres 2 roods. Mr. S. Blake applied for permission to sublet Section 1, Block 11, Mangahao, 200 acres 2 roods, to Mr. R. P. Scott, and it was resolved to decline.
It was resolved to recommend that Mr. 11. Dowling, occupier of Section 12, Block 11, Hunua S.D., be allowed to select Section 8, Block 11, Hunua, 28 acres 28 perches, on occupation with right of purchase at the phce stated on the board's records.
With reference to the purchase of the fee-simple of Section 7, Block' XIII, Mangonui S.D., it was resolved to fix Jan. uary 1 in each year as the date for payment of instalments of principal as required by Section 24 (3) of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1914.
It was resolved to give the lessee of Section 66a, Block V, Waiopehu, 2 acres 2 roods 35 perches, three months' notice of resumption and to offer him a new lease from year to year at the increased rent recommended by the ranger. Messrs. .Sayer and Snywell applied for an extension of time in which' to remove the timber purchased -by them on Totara Flat, Block 11, Waiohine. It was resolved to grant them an extension for a period from November 28, 1914, till November 4, 1915, the date of expiration of floating'license.
Messrs. Muggridgc Bros, having applied for .a lease of portion, of Section 7, ulock XII, Manganui, it was ' resolved to decline the application,'as this land is already let to Mr. Elligate. Mr. T. Weir applied for a license to mill timber on Sections 3, 6, and 7, Block VIII, Manganui. It was resolved to dc-. cline the application, and to advise the applicant of other, lots of timber available for disposal.
iii'. W. Lloyd applied for a permit to cut five green trees on Crown land south of Brua Station. It was resolved to grant the permit at the usual royalties, the said trees to be marked by the ranger, and cutting to be subject to his supervision.
Mr. Amos Gibson applied to transfer his sub-leaso of Section 39, Block XII, Apiti, 205 a. Or. OOp., to Mr. Thos. Waugh, jun., and it was resolved to approve. Messrs. E. and J. Farley applied to transfer Section 8, Block X, Mangawehro, 716 a. 2r. 00p„ to Mr. W., A. M'Donald, and it was Tesolved to approve. It was resolved to approve the proposals made by the Patea County Council ou January 21, 1915, for expenditure of accrued thirds, amounting to JEI37 ss. lid., subject to investigation' by the ranger, and so far as the amounts are still available.
The Eketahuna County Council's application to transfer to the Pahiatua County Council a credit balance of hypothecated thirds on part Section 13, Block XIII, Mangahao, was considered, and the board decided to postpone consideration until fuller particulars aro received. Mr. Donald, Henry applied for a license to mill timber on Section 7, Block I, Hunua, and it was' resolved to decline the application. Mr. G. R. Bell wrote offering an ei-. planation as to his failure to execute the improvements required •,m Section 6, Block- XVI, Tetaruke, 537 acres, and it was resolved to forfeit his interest and reofl'er section loaded with value of improvements. A letter was received from Mr. li. Johns complaining of the' value placed on Mrs. Joan's improvements on her Section 2, Block XVIII, Mangahao, 3 acres, and it was resolved that Air. Ellingham interview him and explain the position. The following improved farm settlers .applied for further advances under the provisions the regulations of August 24, 1914, and it was resolved to recommend for the Minister's approval:—
Applications for fee simple were approved as follow Section 19, Block XIV, Manganui, 139 a. Or. 32p., E. G. Voelkeiling; Section 29, Block 11, Mangaone, 10a. lr. 29p., E. Luoni; Section 13, Block X, Ml. Cerberus, 300 a., J. Biddell. MISCELLANEOUS. It was resolved to offer Mr. H. Cornelius a. permit to occupy part Section 1 of Section 83, Block VII, Alangahao, 2a. 2i. lp., from year to year at a rent of £1 10s. per annum, subject to usual conditions. , It was resolved to offer for cash b) public auction, in Wellington, Section 77, Wadestown, oa. lr. 32.3 p., at the upset price fixed by the Valuation Department. It was resolved to grant Mr. A. Peck a license to split firewood from dead timber on Block X, Horopito West Village Settlement, at the royalty recommended by the ranger. Output to 'be tallied by ranger before removed from the ground. With reference to timber illegally cut by Natives on Whakapapa Island, it was resolved to authorised the sale locally by the ranger of the posts and battens still on the gTound. Section 21, Block XII, Belmont, la. Or. '37 p., having been open for a considerable time, weighted with £383 55., it was resolved to recommend that the loading for improvements be reduced to £300 12s.
It was resolved to reoffcr for cash by public auction the unsold sections in Owhaugo Township at the reduced upset prices recommended by the ranger. Mr. Wilson, the lessee of Section 375, Block V, Wairon, requested that compensation should be allowed him at expiration of lease for six-roomed house he lias erected, and it was resolved to advise Mm that he will be allowed one month from date of selection of section in which to sell or remove the building.
Mr. -las. Kins, having applied for an area of Ja. 3r. 29p. of closed road, fronting his holdings, 3 and 26, Block IX, llanua. it was resolved, under the power privci by Section D 2 of the Besorvw And .Other. JUuukJQkooeaL Act. IUA^JiO.
include this area in Ixis lease in perpetuity at an increase in rent of Bs. per annum. Messrs. Eeid, Kay, and Eeid, the licensees of Sections a and sa, Block VI, Kaitiekc, renewed their application to havo adjoining Section 2A, 17a. 2r. 27p., added to their holding under Section 11 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, and it was resolved to recommend lor approval at the price of £2 10s. per acre. It was resolved to offer the ■undermentioned lots as first-class land under part 111 of the Laud Act, 1908, at I prices recommended in rangei's latest valuation:—Section 26, Block 11, Hunua, Ssa. lr. 2-lp.j Section 27, Block 11, Hunua, 102 a. 2r.; Sections 17, 30, Block 11, Hunua, Ola. 2r. 0.1 p.; Section 18, Block 11, Hunua, 152 a. lr. It was resolved to recommend that Mr. A. M'Coll, lessee in perpetuity of Section •Hi, Block XIV, Ohinewairua, 2851 acres, bo allowed to select adjoining sections 46a and 65, 11a. 2r. 00p., under Section 11 ol tho Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, at tho unimproved value fixed by the ranger, viz., ..£l4l 6s. 6d. With reference to tho board's resolution of December 17, 1914, recommending disposal of 19} acres to Mr. Cobbs, under Section 14 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1912, it was resolved to fix the tenure as cash instead of O.R.P. Mr. J. L. Wildbere, whose wife is tho lessee of Section 68, Heatherlea Settlement, applied to be allowed to select the adjoining Section 67 (the apiary 6ito), which is open for selection, and it was resolved to decline. Mr. J. A. Ross applied for a lease of Section 30, Block IV, Mangahao (three acres), and it was resolved to decline. Mr. E. G. M'Kinnou, holder of Section 40c, Block X, Hautapu, renewed, his application to bo allowed to select the adjoining Section 54 so that ho can. get access to water, and it was resolved to postpone consideration until . ranger's valuation is received. The Public Trustee applied to sub-let Section 271, Block VII, Wainuieru, 638 acres, to Mr. W. B. Preshaw for- a term of seven years from November. 24, 1914. Resolved to approve. Messrs. Pepper and Nicholson, licensees of Section 7, Block'Vlll, Whirinaki, 1224 acres, applied for an exemption from rent and rates for a period of four years, this concession having been granted to surrounding settlers, and- it was resolved to recommend this concession under the power given by Section 25 of the Reserves And Other Lands- Disposal, Etc., Act, 1911, the exemption from rent to date from July I, 1915. .
David To, licensee of Section 5, Block XIII, Kaitoke, 811 acres, applied for an exemption of rent and rates for a period of two years, this concession having been granted over the surrounding sections. It was resolved to recommend the- concession under the power given by Section 25 of the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal, Etc., Act., 1911, the exemption from rent to date from July 1, 1915. Mr. Henry J. Banks, licensee of Section 1, Block-1, Manganui, applied for permission to appoint a substitute under Section 22 of th.e Land Laws Amendment Act, 1913. Resolved to postpone consideration until he appoints a substitute. J. Shanahan, licensee of . Section 139, Block IV, Mangahao, 88a. 3r. 10p., wrote with regard to his failure to comply with residence conditions. Resolved to accept his explanation as satisfactory in. the meantime.
Several applications for a lease of Section 9, Block IX, Hunua, 10 acres 1 rood 10 perches, were considered, and it was resolved to recommend its disposal to licensee of Section ■ 25, Block Xj Hunua (Mrs. J. A. Stevens), on 0.r.p., at the price of £9 per acre, plus value of fencing to be paid for in cash. It was resolved to grant C, Miley a permit .to cut silver pine sleepers, posts, etc., out of dead timber in Block XVI, Makotuku, at royalties recommended by the ranger, and subject to liis supervision. .
It was resolved to recommend that Sec-, tione 1, 3, Block ill, 1, 2, 3, i, 5,. Block VI, and 5 and 6, Block VII, Whirinaki (Waipapa Block) be proclaimed under Section 25 of the Reserves and Other Bodies Disposal, etc., Act, 1911, as exempt from payment of rent and rates for a period of three years. The period of exemption from rent to commence on the dates to which the rents have been paid up in each, case as shown on Record 28843. •'With regard to the unselected Section ,2, Block 111, Whirinaki, in this block, which, is now open for application, it was resolved to recommend that it .be proclaimed exempt from rent and rates for three years under Section 127 of the Land Act, 1908, the period to commence on date up to which, the first half year's rent shall be paid. ' H. J. Holmes applied to transfer Sections 3a ar.d 6, Block 11, Mt. Cerberus, 202 acres, to H-. Thomas, and it was resolved to decline;
F. Farr, junr.,, applied to mortgage part Sections 42 and 54 (Glencairn Q.A., Block XIII, Wangaeliu), to A. H. and H. Sutciiffe and A. Millner, and it was resolved to recommend to the Minister of Finance if everything is.in order and the Public Trustee makes no objection. Mr. K; Richardson applied''to transfer Section 28, Block 11, Tirikaukawa, 19 acres 24 perches, to Mr. Thos. M'Quinn, and it was resolved to postpone consideration until a report is received from the ranger. : _ Mrs. Ellen Fitzpatrick applied to transfer Section 25, Block XIV, Maungakarctu, 200 acres,'-to Mr. Dominich M'Quinn, and it was resolved to' postpone consideration until a report is received from the ranger. Mr. Thos. Fitzpatrick applied to transfer Section 27, Block Xfv, Maungakaretu, 200 acres, to. Mr.. Dominich ..M'Quinn,; and it was resolved to postpone consideration until a report is received from the ranger.
