Deceased seemed to hear and stopped -to the left out of the way, aid ' then suddenly stepped to the right, in front of the car, which waß too near to ovoid an accident. Griffiths was struck ' by the off wheel and the car parsedover him. He was removed to "a private hospital, but was dead when he arrived there. AN ENGINEER'S TERRIBLE , PLIGHT. SUPPERS SERIOUS INJURIES. An engineer on board the steameP' .Aparima, Walter' Wise, hada terrible experience on board that vessel yesterday. -Bv some means he fell down into one of the ship's bunkers at about 3.30 P.m. The''accident was not noticed by anyone, and it was not until about 8.30 last' night that he was disoovered., ■ on the floor of the bunker suffering from ' severe internal injuries. , SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT While on their way to Feildine on Monday morning, Mr. 0. V. Dimock (of the of jMessra. Dimock rand Co.) and Mrs. Dimock and infant sustained a serious accident through the steering. gear of tbe car in';Vhi(ih they were riding- jamming. The car, which was about a mile and : a half this side'of the'Raekakariki; Hill, ; went' over 'a! steep bank and turned over three times before it stopped. Mt6.' Dimock had her leg broken, and suffered a severe shaking,' Mr. Dimock. escaped with a few cuts and a shaking, while the baby escaped - unhurt. ■ The sufferers were brought to town, and the report from the Thorndon ■ Hospital where Mr. and Mrs. Dimock now are indicates that they are progressing satisfactorily. . CYCLIST COLLIDES WITH CAB. A cyclist, collided with .tramcar 66. (driven by Motorman Leonard) in. Manners Street yesterday morning.. The rider of the bicyclei, John. He." was found to be suffering from shock, while his forearm was cut and bruised.
