'A really first-class day's entertaintaent is to be provided on Friday next in celebration of the diamond jubilee of 'Wellington City and Province. The celebrations will commence '_at 10.30 a monster prooessibii, whioh will include amongst other things a unique patriotic display by the members of the "Under Two Flags" Dramatic display by the West Coasters' Association of the primitive methods of gold-mining on the Coast in the early days, and many interesting tableaux and trade displays. At NewtoWn Park a Carnival will be held, tlio gold-miners will wash real dirt, sawts. to the dish, a comio cricket match will be held, an athletic sports programme will bo gone through, side-shows of every description will be in flill swing, nmnv old-time amusements will be revived, and last but not least thero will be tho baby shows, to be judged by Dr. Plfttts Mills. As a wind-up to the ( day an entertainment is to be the large Towii Hall, when a specially selected programme will be given and the gold won as a result of the milling operations at the park will be auctioned. In the worils of tho advertisement, it will bo a "day of days and a night of nights." Cheap excursion rates have been arranged on the railways.
