AN APPEAL
. a — I OILSKINS FOR H.M.S. NEW, ZEALAND. ■ • Her Excellency Lady Liverpool makes : the following appeal to the public:— "I have bean told that some extra : oilskins would be greatly appreciated on .; H.M.S. New Zealand at this strenuous time.' I feel perhaps that, some of those people who retain pleasant recol- ! lections of the visit of H.M.S. New Zea- : land to these waters, and of some happy ' hours spent on board her, may like to I help, and the oilsk.'ns would bo sent as , New Year gifts. I propose, therefore, l to start a collection in half-crowns, so \ that all who want to may help. About \ six half-crowns will buy one oilskin. I will acknowledge all contributions .6ent to me; and on January 23 the list . will be closed, and the money cabled / home to Captain Halsey. In conclusion ' may_ I ask that all envelopes containing remittances for the above-mentioned object be marked 'H.M.S. New Zealand Fund' across the top left-hand corner."
