GREAT FINISH IN MEN'S DOUBLES (By Telegraph—Press Assoetetlon.J Dunedin, January 2. The New Zealand Lawn Tennis Championships were concluded at Carisbrook to-day. In. the Men's Singles Championship Jennings started off well again'st Ollivior, but the latter in the long run displayed superior skill and court-craft, and won the second, third, and fourth sets, after his opponent had secured the first. A splendid, contest was provided in the final for the Men's Doubles Championship, the match lasting for two hours and a quarter, and being close throughout, '■the issue being in doxibt until the finish. In the first sot Wallace and Dickie won the first three games, and then Ollivier and Wilding won two games. Wallace and Dickie brought the score to - 4—2, and then Ollivier and Wilding won another game (4—3). Wallace and Dickie won the next game, and Ollivier and Wilding won the next three, leaving the score at 6 —5 in their favour. Wallace and Dickie won the next three, bringing the score to B—6, and gaining the set. Ollivier and Wilding won, the first two games in the second set, and Wallace and Dickie the next two, but Ollivier and Wilding won the next two, bringing the score to 5—2. Wallace won the next game, but the next went to 01H-. vier, making the score G—3, and winning the set. Tho third set was the best set of the match, and was stubbornly contested. Ollivier and his partner wen the first two games, and also the fourth, fifth, and sixth, the third going to Wallace and Dickie. Wallace and Dickie won tho next five, and reestablished themselves to some extent. The set finally ended with Ollivior and his partner in the lead, the score being 10—8. Wallace and Dickie did well ' again in the fourth set, and after a hard game they succeeded in winning by seven games to five. In the last set, however, they were not so fortunate, They won the first game,, but Ollivier and Wilding then had a series of wins, bringing tho score; to s—l in thoir favour. Ollivier and Wilding finally won the set, and with it the match. Wallace and Dickie showed good combination, and played vory solidly, but Wilding was playing very safely, j and Ollivier's' brilliant volleying and courtiraft- enabled him eventually to wear down his opponent. Goss and Miss Baird had not very much difficulty in disposing of Jennings and Miss Broweter ,in two sets outright. Miss Baird served very well, and her back-liand was especially strong. She was ably assisted by Goss, who showed great activity in getting well placed balls to Miss Broweter. Miss Brewster'3 side-line ' shots ' were well placed, and her cross back-band .shots often puzzled her opponents. Jennings volleyed with deadly accurancy, and his "excellent length helped to win many games. ~ Goss having won the first set, Jennings led at 4—2,' in the second, but lost the seventh, eighth, and ninth games. He won the tenth, making the score five all, Goss and Miss Baird won the two succeeding games, and with them the match and the championship. ■ In the first set of tho final of the Ladies' Singles Miss Baird placed really, well, and holding Miss Gray thoughout won 6—4; • In the.second and.third sets, however, Miss Gray played very steadily, and executed some very fine strokes, winning 6—3 and 6-^4. •At the conclusion the prizes^were,presented by Mr. T. Begg, president of the • New Zealand Association. The, banner for the association gaiuing most points was won by Canterbury with 12} points,' Auckland being second, with 5} points, and Hawke's Bay third with 8 points.

The Auckland Lo.wn Tennis Association's annual handicap tournament was continued on Saturday, when the following events were brought to a conclusion:—Men's Handicap Singles, B Grade—Jacobson. Ladies' Handicap Singles—Miss Paylon. Ladies' Handicap Doubles—Misses N. MacCormiok and Ward.
