PICTON EXCURSION

About 750 excursionists left Wellington for Picton by' tho ferry steamer, Wahuio yesterday. "Wlion the vessel .arrived from Lyttclton in the morning it waß reported that the weather outsido was not too favourable, and as it still looked threatening, _ there was a possibility of tho trip being abandoned. A consultation was hold, however, after which it was decided to make the run icross. The-weather in Cook Strait was anything but pleasant, and the nialontv of the excursionists suffered 111 consequence. At Picton the conditions had improved, and during the journey back .tho sea was not quite so choppy The Wabino arrived at the Wellington wharf at 6.25 p.m.
