On Thursday, December 31, an extra clearance will bo made from the city and suburban receivers as follows:—To Aro. Wellington South, and Tliorndon, at 6 p.m.; Hatatai, Kilblrnie. Miramar. Beatoun. Island Bay, Vogeltown, Brooklyn, Kelburn, Northland, and Wadestovrn, at 4 p.m. There ■will not be any deliveries by letter-carriers on New Year's Day, but on Thursday, December 31, the Carriers' ■ Department (entrance upstairs from Featherston Street) will be open for the delivery of correspondence addressed ■to streets in the city and suburbs from 8 to 9 p.m.; also the public counter for the delivery of correspondence addressed to the-Post Office will bo open from 8 to 9, p.m. The parcels delivery counter will open from I to 9 p.m. On Friday, January 1 (New I ear's Day) tho Postal Department -will be closed in all its branches.
