OUR NEXT MAYOR.
Sir,—l notice that Mr. Fletcher is another to be added to those very ambitious citizens who, through gaining 0110 important public position, become ?? In 'l )ressc d with their importance that they (like the Kaiser) believe their mission is to carry all before P l ' Fletcher ought to be quite satisfied for a while: a member of Parliament, with a business, and other positions, cannot be expected to do justice to tho position of Chief Magistrate of this growing and very important city. Let me remark that every burgess has a voice m this matter, and among those many thousands there are a large number who believe they ought to divide tho honours they have to bestow, thus having a guarantee that something like justico will be done to the positions, and as Mr. Fletcher poses as a real, true democrat, he will readily see the re m SOna - contention. Trusting you will kindlv find space for these few words,—l am, etc., _ BURGESS, bouth Wellington, December 19, 1914.
