Mails for dispatch by steamers will close at 8 p.m. on the previous evening, and the only dispatches of correspondence by trains will close on Ohristmas Day as follows:—For the WaiTarapa, Hawke's-Bay, Manawatu, Rangitikoi, Wanganui, and Taranalti districts at 5.45 a.m., and for Auckland and Auckland district at 8 a.m. The City and suburbs receivers will not ■ be cleared during the day, but the midnight clearances mil be made as usual. ' ■■ ' On Thursday, December 24, an extra clearance will be made from the city and suburban receivers as follows:—To Aro, Wellington South, and Thorndon, at 5 p.m.; Hatatai, Kilbirnie, • Miramor, Scatoun, Island Bay, Vogeltown, Brooklyn, Kelburn, Northland, and Wadestown, at 4 p.m. There •will not be any deliveries by letter-carriers on Christmas Day, but on Thursday, December 24, the Carriers' Department (entrance upetairs from Feathcrston Street) will be open for the delivery of correspondence addressed to streets in the city and suburbs from 8 to 9 p.m.; also the public counter for th« delivery of correspondence addressed to the Post Office will be open from 8 to 9 p.m. Tho parcels de- • livery counter will open from 8 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, December 26 (Boxing Day) the Chief Post Office will be open in all its branches (except Money-order and Savings Bank) from 9 to 10 a.m. Molls for dispatch by steamers will cJo6e at 8 a.m., and the only dispatches of correspondence by trains will close as follows:—For Wairaropa, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Rongitikci.
