NEW FREEZING WORKS
BIG AUCKLAND SCHEMES. ,■ (Br Talecroph.—Press Association.) Auckland, December 17. • Plans for the establishment of two new freezing works in the Auckland district were announced yesterday afternoon. Tho directors ot the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company have decided to proceed with the erection of works at Horotiu, four miles south of Ngaruawahia, in the Waikato, and Messrs. Vestcy Bros., owners of many works in Australia, have undertaken tho establishment of works in the neighbourhood of Auckland, and the oxtension of the Whangarei works. The two main projects involve an expenditure of £50,000 each, and tho additions at TVhangarei will cost £25,000 to complete, a total of £125,000. Each of these new works will have a. capacity of 3000 islieep per day, while "Whangarei is being inereased to that capacity, and the new plant which has just been installed at the Auckland .Freezing Company's "Westfield works, near the city, brings them also up to that capacity. Machinery for Veatey Bros.' works jis now on the -water, and an endeavour is being made to commence operations next July, but the "Waikato works may not be open until nest December.

CANTERBURY FROZEN MEAT COT. (By TeleEroDh.—Press Association.) Chrlstahurch,' December 17. Tho annual meeting of tho Canterbury Frozen Meat Company was held this afternoon, Sir Geo. Clifford, chairman of directors, presiding. The annual report stated that the net profit for the year was £28,226 85.,. which with the amount brought forward from-last'year, made tho amount at credit of profit and lose account £30,294 .Os. 3d., out of that £SCCO. had been added to the general Teserve fund, which ,witb. premium on shares allotted, increased it to £55,028 10s.; £5000 had also been added to the insurance reserve fund, bringing the same up to £25,000, and the sum of £500 had been written off works. After apportioning these amounts and deducting tho interim dividend paid at the half year thore remained a sum of £8694 IBs. 3d., ■which the directors proposed should be dealt with as follows:—Payment of a further dividend of 3 per cent, on preference, and 4 per cent, on ordinary shares, making a total dividend for the year of 6 per cent, and 8 per cent, respectively, £6604 165.; to carry forward £2090 Zs. 3d.
