SCHOOLBOY KILLED. (By TeUeraDh.-Prese Association.) Woodville, December 15. A fatal accident happened to a schoolboy this aftornoon. For a. long time past the school children on the Masterton Road have been brought to Woodville School and taken home in Someryille's brake. For a change, Somerville took the children home this afternoon ma motor lorry he has just imported. When slowuig up at the end of tbo lr Urne f - a se von-year-old boy named Noel Smith, stepson of Mr. Roberts, a. farmer, fell off, and a wheel of the lorry went over his head, smashing ia the skull. Death was instantaneous. DEATH OF A FARM LABOURER. . Core, December 15. At the inquest yesterday into the cause of the death of William Bloomneld at Pyramid on Friday, the evidence showed that deceased was seen driving a four-horse team with a- diso harrow. He stopped the team and went to a horse's head, was knocked down, and dragged a few yards. The disc passed-over his head, injuring the brain, The Coroner returned a verdict accordingly. ■ BOLTING HORSE CAUSES ACCIDENT. ■ . A bottle gatherer named John Millar, residing at Petone, met with an'accident last night through his horse bolting. The man was thrown out of his cart, and his right ankle was badly hurt, and his head slightly injured. He was admitted to the Hospital. A FRACTURED ANKLE. These vessels are now on their return voyage, and should be available to load meat and. dairy produce at New Zealand ports in January. . In addition it is hoped that the Ma--rere and the Star of Victoria will be available for Now Zealand loading in January. These two steamers conveyed Australian troops, to Egypt, and they have been released, and are returning to Australia. The Prime Minister is now in communication with the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, and has made representations that if- possible these boats be not again used for military • purposes. . ; " Information at the'disposal -of the •■ Government shows that ten steareere with insulated space will be available for New Zealand loading in January, and eleven for February loading.' ,- :
