SWIMMING. THE SWIFTS CLUB. ' Tho sixteenth annual meeting of tho Swifts Amateur; Swimming Club was held at the Y.M.C.A., Mr. W. Skegg presiding. Tho annual report and balaiice-sueet were adopted after a brief discussion. Six new members were elected. Officers for tho ensuing season were elected as follow:—President, Mr. C. P. Skerrett, K.C.; vice-presidents, 'Messrs. Martin Chapman, K.C., J. P. Maxwell, J. E. Jenkinson, W. Skegg, W. Smith, C. Smith,. W. F. 3\ Courtney, and H. H. Brown; captain, Mr. P. Wilton; vice-captain, Mr. E. Vango; hon. secretary, Mr. G. Little; hon. treasurer, Mr. F.. C. Jones; committee, Messrs. F Wilton, H. A. Lamb, W. Watt, L. Butler, and E. Paferson; starter, Mr. C. Moore; check starter, Mr. H. A. Lamb; handicappers, Messrs. P. Wilton and H. A. Lamb; auditor, Mr. A. H. H. Stevenson; delegates- to Wellington Centre, N.Z.A.S.A.'. Messrs. A. H. H. Stevenson and F. Wilton. I It was unanimously decided to cancel ; the club's affiliation to the Royal Life Saving Society. The club's season is to be opened on Tuesday nest, December 1, at the Te Aro Baths. Despite the fact that sixteen members of the club are on active service beyond the Dominion and a number of others on coast defence duty it is anticipated that the new season will bo a successful, one. I THORNDON CLUB. . . The first heat of a 50 yards handicap was got off at Thorndon Baths last evening. Result:—J. D. Burns, ssec., 1; V. Tipene, Bsec., 2; A. W. Smith, Bsec., 3. Also started: F. R. Webster, 15sec.; J. Barr, 15sec., F. Godfrey, 9sec.; W. Skinner, 9sec. The remaining heats,and the final will be decided to-day (Saturday), when the club will officially open the season. GREYTOWN CLUB. (Prom Our Oira Correspondent.), The Greytown Amateur • Swimming Club decided several events at the baths on Thursday. Results wero.as follow: 50 Yards Maiden Race. —J. Rea, 1; P. RIFLE-SHOOTING
WELLINGTON SUBURBS CLUB. The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club continued their trophy shooting on Wednesday afternoon at ranges 300, 500, and 600 yds., seven-shot match. The best score of the day was by Rifleman M. Evaus, with 97. To-day and next Wednesday the second match in. the first series will be fired. For .this match a special prize of a lamb will be fired for, presented to the club by Mr. G. Parker, Cuba Street. The following were the scores on Wednesday A Class.—M. Evans, 34—33 —30—97; J. L.
