EXTRA PAY FOR PILOTS
+ FOR EXAMINATION WORK AT THE • , HEADS. ■ ■• At last evening's meeting of the Harbour Board, Captain D. J. Watson asked the chairman (Mr. R. Fletcher) if the Defence Department was paying the pilots anything for carrying out the duty of examination officers at the Heads. After consulting the secretary, the chairman announced that the Defence Department was being debitedwith the sum of £60. a month Captain Watson said that hohad asked, the question because he had noticed by the papers that in Sydney and Mel-; bourne the pilots were being paid extra for the work. The chairman said ho would be glad if Captain Watson would bring the matter up at the nest meeting: of the Wharves and Accounts Committee. This Captain Watson promised t<> do.
