BASEBALL
CUP COMPETITIONS. COMMENCE. The baseball cup fixtures commenced at the Association Park on Saturday, when South and St. Patrick's College each scored two-point wins. St. Patrick's college v. Y.M.C.A. Only a small number of the Y.M.C.A. team had put ill an appearance at the advertised time, so tile umpire (Mr. L. Moriarty) awarded the game to the Collegians. St. Patrick's then played a scratch game, and when the "big" game was called tho Blue and Whites had a lead of one point, the score then being 2 to 1. South v. central. The South v. Central match' commenced at 3.15 p.m., and was witnessed by a fair number of spectators. Central played a better game throughout, but threw the match away in the seventh innings by faulty play, when they allowed South to score three runs. First Innings.—Central took "the outs," Adams pitching, and South as bat. Harrison and Jansen struck out. M'Millan hit two bagger, and came home on a wild throw —1 run. Second Half.—Centra! at bat. Moore out on first. Ross and Adams struck out—No runs. Second Innings.—Westerholmo fauned. Malloy out on first. Wadman fauned.—No runs. Second Half — M'Donald struck out. Shaw safe on first. Morris and Rountree faiuied.—No runs. Third Innings.—Firth, Laivlor, and Jansen struck out. —No runs. Second Half. —Alexander hit a two bagger. Thompson, safe on first, Alexander stole the third. Thompson safe on second. Moore walked. Ross struck out. Alexander home on Adams's safe hit. Thompson out at home. Moore safe home on overthrow. Adams out at first. —Two runs.
Fourth Innings.—Harrison fauned. M'Mullen out on first, and M'Clintoclf fauned. —No runs. Second Half.— .M'Donald fauned and Shaw likewise. Morris out on first.—No runs.
Fifth Innings.—Westerholmo, Malloy, and Wadman struck out. —No runs; Second Half.—Rountree safe on first, took second on Alexander's safe hit. Rountree out on third. Thompson and Moore struck out.—No runs. i
Sixth Innings.—Firth, Harrison, and •Jansen struck out.—No runs; Second Half. —Rosa and Adams fauned. M'Don aid safe on first and out stealing second. —No runs.
Sevonth' Innings.—M'Mullan ■ fauns. M'Clintock out on first. West-erholme hits two bagger,' comes home on Malloy's two baggor. Molloy steals third. Scores on Wadman's safe hit.—Two rnns. Second Half. —Adams fauns. Shaw hits two bagger, steals third, and scores on' Morris's sacrifice. Rountree hits two baggor. Alexander home run bringing Rountree home. —Three runs.
Eighth Innings.—Jansen, Harrison, and MlClintock struck out. M'Mull.m left on second. —No runs. Second Half. —M'Donald and Shaw struck out. Morris out on third, through cpacher's error. —No runs.
Ninth Innings.—Westerliolmc, Malloy, and Wadman scored' through overthrow. Firth, Lawlor, and Jansen struck out. Socond Half.—Rountree safe on first. Alexander struck out. Thompson out on first. Moore faun's.—No rims. Scores by innings:— South, 1-0-o—o-o—o—2—o—3: 6 runs. Central, o—o—2—o—0 —o—3—0 —3—0 —0:5 runs. Umpire, Mr. L. Moriarty." Time, 1 hour, 49 minutes.
