Details of the attack on the French cruiser Waldeck Rousseau (in the Adriatic) show that she came under the fire simultaneously of machine guns from the land, torpedoers, and fii aeroplane. The aeroplane came within 800 yards and dropped a. bomb, which exploded forward of. the bridge, smashing the-glass of the captain's observation post. ■■ ■•-.'■' Someone shouted as the periscope of a submarine emerged a hundred yards ahead, and the big guns of the cruiser blazed away. When they were quiet again a sheet of oil floated where the submarine had been. Before disappearing the submarine fired a torpedo, which just missed the cruiser. 'Altogether three submarines attacked and it is believed that only one returned to port. —("Times" and Sydney "Sun" service.) .
