MASTERTON.
Mr. R.J. Dagg's champion hack, Flora, which has taken many prizes in the sbow-ring, dropped dead one day this week. At Eketahuna on Thursday Benjamin Bronkhorst, a boardinghouse-keeper, was convicted of keeping liquor for sale' in a No-License district, and was fined ■£25 and costs. Five other cases arising out of the same case, for delivering liquor believing it was intended for sale, were dismissed without prejudice. The caso M'Donald' v. Wolters, which had been, transferred from the local Supreme Court to the Supreme Court in Wellington,' has been settled out of Court, the defendant paying a sum of' £400. The 'challenge cup at the, Carterton Show for the most points in the home industries, section was won by Mrs. J. B. M'Ken'zie, of Masterton. The rain which fell on Wednesday night, though less than a quarter of an inch, has freshened up the pastures. A. twenty-four hour downpour would do an immense amount,of good.
