The dry weather spell seems to have broken. On Wednesday evening heavy rain fell for about three hours. A cold snap was experienced on Thursday, which was followed by westerly winds/' and rain on Friday morriing. At the annual meeting of the Pahiatua Racing Club this week the financial statement showed that the assets (ground and buildings, owned by the club), valued at a low figure, were worth about' £250 in excess of the liabilities. The present postmistress has resigned owing to the ■ salary (£lO a year) being too small. At a meeting of settlers held this week it was decided to apply for a rural delivery service. Mr. Bibby, one ot the settlers, has agreed to take over the position or postmaster for a time. The.Pahiatua Swimming Batlis will be opened for tbo season on Novomber, 1.
