THE SHIPPING OF DAIRY PRODUCE.
Sir,—l read with, interest your rev port of the interview between Mr. Massey and representatives of the Bristol Company, to the shipping of dairy produce. In the firat place,, sir, I am pleased to see tho matter has at last been brought to light, and I sincerely hope in the interests of tho dairy in' dustry that we will be able to understand after the inquiry the relations that exist between the shipping companies and the National Dairy Association. I am more than pleased 1 with the firm stand adopted by tne Prime Minister, which I nave felt for some time past required striot investigation, and to my mind Mr. Lysnar deserves the thanks of tho dairy companies for bringing this matter forward. In view of the fact, sir, that it has been stated in your columns that there was 1 ample space for the carriage of dairy produce to London up till after Christinas, I would like the Freights Committee to inquire—(l) How many factories have already been shut out of space required by steamers that have left, and those about to follow. (2) If there is any preference for space shown to any particular firms or agents handling New Zealand butter and cheese. If it is a fact, sir, that quite a number of factories cannot got the space required, it certainly appears to mo to be a sorious matter, and to my mind it is a question that every company affected should seriously take up _ and bring the same under the notice of Mr. Massoy, who will, I feel certain, seo that everyone concerned gets a squaro deal. Thanking you, sir, I am, ctc., DAIRYMAN.
